Procedimientos Especiales de Contención: Debido a la naturaleza de la anomalía, los esfuerzos de contención se centrarán en el monitoreo mediático a gran escala para la identificación de posibles nuevos casos derivados de SCP-ES-361.

Todas las instancias confirmadas de SCP-ES-361-A, SCP-ES-361-B y SCP-ES-361-C-1 deberán ser rápidamente localizadas y puestas en custodia de la Fundación bajo protocolos estándar de recuperación y contención. De requerirlo, se desplegará una campaña de desinformación según la naturaleza y alcance de cada situación.

Los ejemplares de SCP-ES-361-A y SCP-ES-361-C-1 junto con SCP-ES-361-B-1 se hallan alojados en recintos estándar especialmente aclimatados en la sección D, en el sitio-90. Los casos de SCP-ES-361-B-2 a -4 se encuentran debidamente etiquetados y depositados en el Área de Almacenamiento del mismo sitio. Se mantendrá una observación periódica sobre SCP-ES-361-B-5.

Para un informe especifico de los protocolos de almacenamiento o detalles del mantenimiento particular de las instancias, diríjase al director de contención, actualmente Dr. Warwyck.

Descripción: SCP-ES-361 es una tendencia probabilista recurrente vinculada al Raphus cucullatus.¹

Aunque la verdadera extensión del fenómeno aún no ha sido totalmente definida, se cree que cualquier medio físico que pudiera ser vinculado directa o parcialmente con la susodicha especie tendrá una alta tasa de probabilidad de manifestar efectos o adquirir propiedades anómalas.

Esto ha dado como resultado diversas anomalías independientes, catalogadas a continuación:

SCP-ES-361-A-7 en exhibición, previo a adquirir sus propiedades.

SCP-ES-361-A define a un conjunto variado de reconstrucciones, modelos y representaciones directas de la especie Raphus cucullatus, todas las cuales han adquirido autonomía por medios desconocidos.

Todas las instancias son sensibles, conscientes de su entono y muestran el comportamiento general de un animal vivo, con la excepción de no mostrar ningún tipo de comportamiento reproductivo.

Pese a no necesitarlo, algunos ejemplares buscarán alimentarse activamente. Permitirles la actividad ha demostrado aumentar la docilidad, reducir los niveles de estrés y se ha descubierto que el desgaste o los daños en su estructura "sanan" gradualmente si se les provee de los materiales adecuados para su consumo.

A continuación se adjunta una tabla resumida de las instancias contenidas hasta la fecha:

4	Modelos realistas	Las instancias muestran la flexibilidad y temperaturas corporales esperables en un animal vivo pese a sus materiales de fabricación; polietileno, madera, escayola y bronce, respectivamente. Son los únicos casos que no parecen requerir o buscar sustento. Solo poseen sus propiedades anómalas durante los periodos nocturnos.

En todos los casos, no se ha registrado indicios de ningún tipo de ritual o actividad taumatúrgica llevada a cabo en torno o en las cercanías las instancias.

SCP-ES-361-B

---

SCP-ES-361-B designa a una serie de objetos individuales, vinculados indirecta o conceptualmente con el susodicho animal, todas las cuales han adquirido propiedades anómalas.

SCP-ES-361-B-1 es un espécimen de Sideroxylon grandiflorum, el ejemplar no muestra desviaciones obvias de otros ejemplares. Si uno de sus frutos ingresa al tracto digestivo de un organismo de la clase Aves el mismo experimentará un brusco aumento o disminución de masa así como una serie de alteraciones morfológicas hasta asemejarse físicamente a un ejemplar de Raphus cucullatus. La transformación se revierte tras la expulsión del fruto o sus restos del sistema.

SCP-ES-361-B-2 consiste en la cabeza momificada de un espécimen de Raphus cucullatus, si un sujeto entra en contacto directo y sostenido con el objeto por un mínimo de 40 segundos será capaz de percibir a una entidad espectral de Tipo-III que se cree se trata del animal en vida, este muestra el comportamiento y aspecto típico de la especie.

Nótese que aunque solo sea físicamente perceptible por el sujeto/individuos afectados, la entidad tiene cierto efecto en elementos de su entorno mientras este siendo percibida.

Por sí mismo, SCP-ES-361-B-2 deja de manifestar sus efectos luego de un lapso equivalente al que se sostuvo el contacto, pero la entidad puede dejar de ser perceptible para el sujeto mucho antes si el mismo deja de enfocarse en esta o bien si la misma abandona su campo de visión directa.

SCP-ES-361-B-3 denomina a un vagón jaula, un cartel desgastado lo exhibía como "Ave extinta", el mismo parece albergar a una entidad metafísica aparentemente ligada a dicho concepto. Se desconoce el contenido original del vagón.

Debido a la predominancia del dodo como arquetipo de dicha idea en la noosfera², la gran mayoría de los sujetos perciben a la entidad en la forma de un ejemplar arquetípico de Raphus cucullatus. Aunque la apariencia, tamaño y otros rasgos de la instancia varían entre individuos debido a la interpretación personal de cada individuo respecto al concepto.

Aunque es posible acceder al vagón, la entidad no es capaz o no desea abandonar el recinto. A causa de su propia naturaleza, la instancia no es perceptible en medios de registro audiovisual, sin embargo es capaz de interactuar parcialmente con su entorno.

En considerable menor medida, otros aspectos adoptados por la entidad han incluido:

• Paloma migratoria (Ectopistes migratorius).
• Miembro no identificado de la familia Phorusrhacidae
• Diversas criaturas que asemejan morfológicamente a miembros del orden Pterosauria.
• Variaciones que combinan, estilizan o exageran uno o más rasgos de los animales mencionados.

SCP-ES-361-B-4 se trata de un gallinero artesanal de madera. Si a un ave de al menos 5 kg se le permite depositar e incubar sus huevos en el recinto, en entre el 80 al 90 % de los huevos que eclosionen el polluelo pertenecerá a la especie Raphus cucullatus. Todos los ejemplares parecen ser estériles y solo un 10 % de los mismos alcanza la edad adulta.

SCP-ES-361-B-4 no muestra rasgos destacables a excepción de que la madera que compone la estructura proviene enteramente de Mimusops balata, Diospyros tessellaria y Sideroxylon grandiflorum.

El análisis e inspección minuciosos de los objetos no ha tenido éxito en detectar rastros de intervención ontoquinetica en ninguno de los mismos.

Ejemplar resultante de SCP-ES-361-B-4

SCP-ES-361-B-5 hace alusión al asteroide conocido como (6336) Dodo, localizado en el cinturón principal³.

SCP-ES-361-B-5 posee un albedo promedio de 0.161, una longitud estimada de 8,7 km y por sí mismo no ha mostrado características estructurales, orbitales o rotacionales fuera de lo esperado en objetos similares. Pese a ello, observaciones recientes hechas por sondas de la Fundación han determinado que el cuerpo ha estado sujeto a un acelerado e inusual patrón de erosión espacial diferencial no visto en otros asteroides, lo que ha resultado en darle al mismo un aspecto semejante a un cráneo anatómicamente detallado de un Raphus cucullatus.

Se han detectado a su vez, una serie de emisiones intermitentes de señales de ondas electromagnéticas provenientes de SCP-ES-361-B-5. La recopilación y su análisis no ha tenido éxito en dilucidar su contenido. Al traducirse en sonido, este parece consistir en llamados similares a graznidos graves.

SCP-ES-361-C

---

SCP-ES-361-C se refiere a una manifestación atípica y cada vez más pronunciada de ciertos rasgos morfológicos en miembros del orden Columbiformes.

SCP-ES-361-C parece tratarse de una reversión evolutiva anómala puesto que no responde a adaptaciones ambientales u otros factores que suelen causarla, a su vez los cambios se manifiestan de forma casi abrupta, en espacio de muy pocas generaciones, y convergen en caracteres idénticos que incluyen de forma simultanea en:

• Un pronunciado aumento en tamaño y masa, duplicando e incluso triplicando el del progenitor.
• Pedomorfismo en los huesos pectorales y alares, así como una considerable reducción de los huesos de la cintura escapular y los omóplatos, resultando en la incapacidad de vuelo.
• Una coloración parduzca-grisácea en el plumaje.
• Una mayor en robustez en los huesos de las patas y mayor grosor de los huesos pélvicos, más adaptadas para el ámbito terrestre.
• Un pronunciado cambio en la morfología del cráneo y pico en general.

Los ejemplares presentarán buena parte o la totalidad de estas características, tendiendo a converger a un aspecto similar al género Raphus. La mayoría de los casos no logra sobrevivir a una edad reproductiva en la naturaleza debido a la inefectividad de sus adaptaciones al entorno.

Aunque con menos frecuencia, se ha observado la manifestación del fenómeno en miembros de las familias Anserinae, Phasianidae y Struthionidae.

Hasta la fecha, no ha logrado localizarse un agente anómalo específico como causante de las mutaciones. Universalmente las lecturas de Humes no han mostrado variaciones o fluctuaciones esperables entre los ejemplares estudiados o sus relativos congéneres.

Soy más que consciente de la confusión que pueda inspirar, especialmente a los recién llegados, la clasificación de tan variadas anomalías bajo la misma designación sin una relación subyacente, más allá de lo obvio.

Antes que nada he de aclarar que, aunque omitida del archivo por brevedad, en efecto, dicha relación existe.

Según entendemos, todas las instancias están vinculadas por los mismos preceptos; todo aquello que pueda ser asociado conceptualmente con la especie mostrará una alta predisposición a manifestar efectos anómalos con una resultante similar, o en términos más simples:

Si puede haber o ser un dodo, habrá o será un dodo.

Cuando puede o no, así como el medio y el modo en que esto se expresa variará ampliamente, pero su génesis es el mismo; una tendencia persistente, absurda y casi arbitraria, por traer de vuelta al animal.

Por qué esta entre las decenas de especies que desaparecieron de esas islas, o de entre las miles cuya desaparición fue efecto de factores antropogénicos, aún no podemos decirlo con certeza.

Ya sea por influencia de algo o, si los contadores no mienten, alguien fuera de nuestra comprensión; no lo sabemos.

Buffon opinaba que si se quisiera convertir la ligereza en la característica esencial de las aves, el dronte no tendría derecho a ser admitido como tal; pero nosotros sabemos que si la extinción exigiese un símbolo propio, pocos serían más dignos de portar el título.

Tenemos la conjetura de que, de alguna forma, su erradicación no significó un final para la especie sino un una suerte de evento desencadenante. La muerte del dodo no lo hizo desaparecer, lo convirtió en algo más abstracto.

SCP-ES-361 no es más que la expresión de ese abstracto manifestándose.

Es paradójico, su propia extinción parece seguir la misma ruta del dodo, y a un paso cada vez más veloz, su regreso parece ineludible.

Pero incluso entonces, nuestro deber seguirá siendo el mismo, al menos, hasta que estar tan muerto como un dodo pierda finalmente su sentido.
